Something that took place in school

Hi guys, I'm going to share with you something that took place in school today. Today, I had Home Economics which is one of the more fun and interesting lessons in school. Yes, I know that Home Economics is supposed to be a ''girl's'' subject , but apparently my school has it to teach us independence. At least, that's what I think and I kind of like it that way. Cooking is very fun and there's that moment of satisfaction when you eat your own cooked food, food that you cooked by yourself and not by anyone else. Yes, it may not taste like heaven but its made by your own hands and that I think is what counts. Anyway, let's get back to the main topic, which is what happened today in Home Economics.

Today as we entered the kitchen decked out in our suave aprons and ocean-blue bandanas, the teacher told us that we would be doing something different from the normal cooking. We would be baking instead of frying or boiling. Now, baking has to be extremely precise and I mean extremely. If you add too much flour, your cup cake will end up as hard as rock. On the other hand, if you add too little flour, it'll turn out all soggy and well, disgusting. I saw quite a few soggy ones today, they looked like melted chocolate with bits of chocolate chip in them. Really mushy and disgusting. So after all these warnings and pin-point accuracy requirements, do you think my class will be nervous and probably think along the lines '' I'm going to mess this up?'' OF COURSE NOT. My class is the type of class who looks for the fun in stuff, graded or not. Anyway, after a small briefing, we got down to work.
First, my partner, Gerrell, and I went to get the various ingredients and materials. Eggs, butter, flour, sugar, spoon and the list goes on and on.
Next, Gerrell laboriously stirred the butter and sugar together to try and attain a cream-like state while I spent my time shaking the sieve, trying to sieve out the flour to get rid of any insects if there were (fortunately there weren't any insects). Over time, I got absolutely bored with my job so Gerrell and I decided to switch jobs. As our mixture of butter and sugar got creamier and creamier, a smell that resembled vanilla ice cream wafted through the air and up our noses. It smelled perfect and I could already imagine myself munching on that awesome cup cake. After a few mouth-watering moments of daydreaming, I got back to reality and continued mixing. So on and on I went, stirring after the flour was added, stirring after vanilla essence was added, stirring after the eggs were added. My arms ached as I stirred on and on, groaning as I forced the wooden-spoon-like-thing (sorry about this but I have no idea what it is called) through the thick slushy mixture. Finally, I couldn't take it anymore and handed over the job the Gerrell who did it with an impressive amount of vigour. Well, I suppose that's the advantage of having an NCC Land partner.
Finally, the mixture looked creamy enough and we gently tipped some of it into each paper cup, filling it to be about three-quarters full.We couldn't add more as the mixture would rise and we didn't want the cup cake to ''explode'' which was what happened to a few people. Poor them. We then put the cup cake mixture in the oven with two other friends' cup cakes and waited. Time crept at a snail-like pace and we were all sighing impatiently and tapping our feet by the time it was ready. As we took them out, we breathed a sigh of relief. Our cup cakes were perfect and I really mean perfect. They had a nice round shape and just a few small cracks which are perfectly fine. The other pair's cup cakes however, turned out a little worse. I won't comment on theirs but all I would say was that while in the oven their cup cakes bubbled. Talk about really weird. Anyway, we let the teacher assess our cup cake and surprise surprise! We got full marks!! What's more, it's the first time she gave us a full mark! We were over the moon and grinning madly as we high-fived each other. For our class, we got quite a few full marks too and there were cheers everywhere. Indeed today was a great lesson.
Personally, I feel that today's Home Economics lesson was rather fun and I also learnt a new cooking method: baking! Also, I feel that life is like baking. In order to get a good cup cake, you have to stir it well and hard and get your proportions right. Same thing in life. In life, education is the key to a good future, so you got to study hard and smart, achieve good results and then voila! Your life will shape like a nice and round cup cake. On the other hand, if you do your studies in a slip-shod way, your life will be like the other partner's cup cake. Really messed up due to insufficient mixing or in this case, studying. I hope that in future, my life would be the first and not the latter and I would have a good life ahead!

  1. Hi zach i read your posts and i have a few comments for you.
Firstly the pictures provided gives a rough view to the reader what you want to say and the language is also quite good.
However, I personally feel the post is too long and draggy maybe you should sieve out the main points only? I think that could really help
